Crescent Lake School-Winter Sports 2025-2026

Yes, it’s the time of year to begin preparing for our Winter Sports Program 2026.  This year students will choose from snowboarding, skiing, ice skating or snowshoeing.  Our skiers and snowboarders will be going back to Gunstock in Gilford.  Our skaters will be going to Pop Whalen this year and our snowshoers will explore the grounds around CLS.  Skaters and Snowshoers will eat lunch at school. Skiers and Snowboarders will bring their own lunch or order a bag lunch from school and eat at Gunstock. There are scholarships available for all activities - please reach out to Mrs. McGuire at 603-569-0223 or email bmcguire@sau49nh.gov if you are in need of a scholarship.  We are excited to inform you that all bus fees will be paid for by the fundraiser from our Fun Run last year! The prices jump quickly for Gunstock if you miss the initial deadline so please look carefully at the dates.  There is also a strict deadline to sign up for skiing/snowboarding at Gunstock.  There are no exceptions if you miss the deadline.

The CLS Winter Sports dates are the Thursdays in January: 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. Our make-up day is scheduled for Thursday, February 5th.

All Winter Sport activities will return in time for normal dismissal.

Option 1: Skiing or Snowboarding at Gunstock:

If you choose this option, participants will be taking part in the Gunstock Outreach Program.  Each student will receive a 2025/26 Season Pass (see below for two different options) which includes our 4 program days (Jan 8, 15, 22, 29).

Students registered in the Outreach Program purchase:

  • A Midweek or Prime Pass, good all season long.

And receive:

  • A complimentary 50-minute lesson, during the 4 scheduled Program days.
  • Complimentary rentals (with a helmet), during the 4 scheduled Program days.
  • (6 When purchased in tier 1), or (4 When purchased in tier 2) BFF 50% off Vouchers for friends and family depending Tier 1 or 2.

Adaptive skiing is available upon request. Please email crapoza@sau49.org ASAP if your child needs adaptive skiing.

We will leave CLS around 9:10 and arrive at Gunstock around 9:45 am.  We will ski/board until 1:15 and then be picked up at 1:40 to return to CLS in time for regular dismissal.  Parents may opt to sign their children out at the mountain if they would like to stay later as the pass is good until 8:00pm.  Skis and Snowboards are not allowed on the bus so they will need to be dropped off at school before school starts and picked up at the end of the day. A staff member will transport skis and boards, but students must load them on the truck at the mountain.

Skiers and snowboarders must wear a helmet.

The final deadline to register to ski or board with Gunstock is November 14th.  Prices increase after October 24th.

Skiing and Snowboarding Price Options*

If you register and pay between Sept 29th and October 24th, you will receive Tier 1 pricing:

Option 1:  Midweek Pass for $200. Passes are valid from beginning to end of season Monday-Friday during Non-Holiday Periods.  Midweek passholders receive 50% off lift ticket purchases every Saturday and Sunday and during our holiday periods,  which are 12/22/25 to 12/26/25 (vacation week), 1/1/26, 1/19/26 (Martin Luther King Day), and 2/16-2/20/26 (MA vacation week).  *The midweek passes work during our vacation week since our week falls 2/23 to 2/27!

Option 2: Season Pass for $350: Passes are valid every day from the beginning to end of the 2025-2026 winter season with no  black-out dates.

  • Both options in Tier 1 include six  50% Off Lift Ticket vouchers for friends and family.

  • If you register and pay between Oct. 25 and Nov. 14, you will receive Tier 2 pricing.

Option 1:  Midweek Pass goes up to $250

Option 2: Season Pass goes up to $400:

  • Both options in Tier 2 include four 50% Off Lift Ticket vouchers for friends and family.

*Night skiing for both passes have free rentals and students in the program will receive 50% off rentals on other days (with the exception of helmet rentals- those are $12 apiece).

Sign-up deadlines will be strictly enforced by Gunstock.  Students who have not purchased a pass on the Gunstock eStore by the close of registration on 11/14/24 will not be allowed to participate in the CLS Gunstock ski/board program.

Important for students attending Gunstock:  Students who ski or snowboard will either need to bring their own lunch or sign up for a bag lunch from school. Students can purchase snacks and hot chocolate if they like, but we’re asking that lunch be brought to maximize time on the slopes. Gunstock is cashless so students who would like to purchase a snack or hot chocolate will need to have money added to their Mountain Money account.

Gunstock Registration:

Gunstock downhill ski and snowboard participants must complete both the registration form attached to give back to CLS, as well as purchase a pass on the Gunstock eStoreFamilies must sign the waiver on the Gunstock eStore and add a picture to their child’s account each year. The link to complete this will be provided through Parent Square as well as on the Student Activities tab on the CLS website and at the bottom of the main page on our CLS website on September 29th. There will also be a link there that will provide step-by-step directions on how to register.

*Please note that the Gunstock eStore (to register) can be slow to load.

You MUST choose either a ski or snowboard lesson, even if your child is at an advanced level. If you are unsure about equipment, please add rentals as they are included in the cost.  The cost is the same even if you have your own equipment.  It’s always better to add it and not need it than to not add it and add it late which could result in your child missing time on the mountain (and potentially their lesson the first week).

  • If you don’t already have an account, parents/guardians must create an account and then add each child onto that account.  This will allow you to sign a waiver to allow the student to participate, register and pay. Please see the link on our CLS website for a step-by-step guide on how to register.
  • If you need help accessing the 50% off vouchers, refer to the Gunstock eStore FAQ page in your packet or on our website.

Please see the Outreach Student and Family Guide linked on our website or see the FAQ on our CLS website and Gunstock eStore FAQ for more information.

Chaperones: We need chaperones to make this event a success.  However, we are only given so many free chaperone passes which must be used first for our staff.  Any extra free passes will be given to chaperones, but they are not guaranteed.  You may use your child’s 50% off voucher if you wish.  If you are interested in chaperoning or if you are wondering what the status of your fingerprinting/background check, please contact Chrissy Rapoza at crapoza@sau49nh.gov for more information.  Last year, it took a few weeks to a month to get cleared to chaperone and we want to make sure that you can get it done in time to be cleared.

Save the Date: There will be two Gunstock nights for rental fittings and photos for RFID passes this year to make the process easier. The first is Wednesday, December 3rd from 3-7pm. The second is Sunday, December 7th from 2-6pm.  Students and chaperones will be able to sign waivers, have photos taken, pick up their RFID cards, have a rental fitting, take a tour of the facilities, and visit the retail store.  A significant discount is being offered to all Outreach Pass holders towards the purchase of a helmet this year. If you have your RFID card from last year, that card will be reactivated from last year.  If you lost it, you will need to pay $5 for a new one. If you are new to Gunstock and are unable to pick up your RFID card, please email Chrissy Rapoza at crapoza@sau49nh.gov so that she can grab your child’s pass on the first day.

Option 2: Skating at the Pop Whalen Ice and Arts Center:

The bus will pick up students at CLS around 10:30 and bring them to the Pop Whalen Ice and Arts Center.  Skaters will skate from 11:00-12:00 and then return to school for lunch and an activity.  Skaters must bring their own helmet.  Bike helmets are fine.

Pricing:

The cost to skate this year for all 4 weeks will be $20 whether you need rentals or not.

Chaperones are welcome!  There is no cost to chaperones! Chaperones would meet us at Pop Whalen Ice and Arts Center at 10:45 and stay until students are back on the bus by 12:15.  If you were approved last year to chaperone, you are good.  If not, you will need to complete the necessary paperwork ASAP.

Option 3: Snowshoeing Information:

Snowshoers will snowshoe around the school grounds here at CLS and on trails behind our school. Students will be provided with equipment to snowshoe from CLS in the afternoon if needed.  There is no cost for this activity.

Chaperones are welcome for this activity as well, but you need to be an approved volunteer.  If you need snowshoes, let us know.

Please complete the information/registration form on the last page and return it to school by October 17, 2025.

If you have any questions, please contact Chrissy Rapoza at crapoza@sau49.org

*Please contact the main office at 603-569-0223 for scholarship information

for skiing, boarding and skating ASAP so we can help you and your student.

Students attending Gunstock:

It is the family's responsibility to complete the Outreach Pass within the deadline, ensure your child’s waiver is signed, photos are updated each year, and the RFID card is picked up prior to the first day of the Program (if they don’t already have an RFID card from last year).

  • Photographs can be taken at one of the pass nights on Wednesday, Dec 3rd from 3-7pm and Sunday December 7th from 2-6pm or a photograph can be uploaded online or can be sent via email to services@gunstock.com to be uploaded for you.
  • Waivers can be signed either at Pass Night or in your eStore account. Check the eStore FAQ if you need help with this.
  • Note that students who forget or lose their RFID card will be charged $5.00 for a replacement card. We do encourage every child having $5 in Mountain Money on their account if they should lose their RFID card.
  • It is expected that students who had an RFID card from last year will use the same one.  If you need a new one, you will be charged $5 for a replacement. Please stop by Gunstock to get a new one if your child has lost theirs.
  • Students will be bringing a bag lunch from home or school, but can purchase snacks or hot chocolate if they would like. Gunstock has gone cashless so money will need to be added to a child’s Mountain Money account.
  • If you are a returning family to the program, please test out your account sooner rather than later to make sure you can get in.  Do not wait until the last few days to sign in and check out.  If there is an issue getting into your account, we’ll have time to resolve it.
  • If you purchased a pass this spring for your child, you will need to convert your pass to an Outreach pass.  If this is the case, please refer to the directions on the FAQ page.
  • For more detailed information about Gunstock, please refer to the Outreach Student and Family Guide linked on the CLS website. Select Student Activities and then Winter Sports.
  • If you have any issues with setting up your account or logging in to the eStore, use the FAQ or the How to Register Help page for help.  If you are still struggling, please call the ticket office at (603) 737-4388 or email services@gunstock.com for assistance.
  • If you sign up for rentals and no longer need rentals, please let Chrissy Rapoza know (crapoza@sau49nh.gov)
  • Please register as early as possible as Gunstock reserves the right to alter the registration deadline and/or cut off Season Pass sales once the Outreach Program and/or Gunstock Mountain have reached capacity limits.
  • Please note that lessons may be conducted on easier terrain than your child typically skis or rides. This is especially true in the first week, when instructors are evaluating and assessing all students assigned to their groups. Even in later weeks, instructors may use lower-level terrain to teach higher-level skills.
  • Students will only be moved between lesson groups for two reasons:
    • The student’s instructor has indicated that the student’s skills would be better matched with another group;
    • The student feels overwhelmed by the speed or terrain of the group and would be more comfortable moving to a lower-level group.

Frequently Asked Questions (from Gunstock Outreach)

What if my child already has a season pass to Gunstock?
If you have previously purchased a season pass for your child, we will pass credit your purchase to Mountain
Money. Once the credit has been made to your account, you can follow the on-line instructions and check-out
using the Mountain Money that has been credited to your account.
Please contact the Ticket Office at (603) 737-4388 or email: services@gunstock.com to request assistance with
converting to an Outreach Pass. When emailing, please use “OUTREACH PASS CONVERSION” in the subject line.

What if my child misplaces or forgets to bring his or her season pass for a scheduled visit?
Each student will be issued a RFID card with his or her name on it. ANY child who loses or forgets their pass will
need to purchase a replacement pass for $5 to participate with their school or group that day/night. We’re
sorry, but we cannot make exceptions to this policy. Please consider adding Mountain Money into your child’s
account to cover the fee for a lost/forgotten pass and/or any purchases while at Gunstock.

If there is a possibility my child may receive ski or snowboard equipment as a gift, should I sign up for rentals?
YES! If your child does not currently have their own equipment or if they have outgrown their equipment, we
highly encourage you to sign-up your child for rentals. Rentals guarantee that they will have the equipment they
need for their first Program Day. If you later determine they don’t need them, we ask that you let your
coordinator know as soon as possible. Please do not call Gunstock directly to add or subtract rental gear.

What if I forgot to sign my children up for lessons and/or rentals when I bought their passes?
If you realize the mistake prior to November 14th, please contact your coordinator.
Lessons cannot be added after November 14th. No exceptions. Instructor staffing is determined by the number
of students who are registered by the close of registration. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate
additions after November 14th.

If you realize you need rentals after November 14th, please attend the Pass & Rental Fitting Nights or contact
your Coordinator. Please do not call Gunstock directly to add or subtract lessons or rentals. The option for
adding rental equipment in advance of your first program day closes early 12/2 for both sessions.
If you determine your child needs rentals after 12/3, they will need to go to the Ticket Office with a
responsible adult to complete the rental process on their first Program Day. This will take extra time and we
cannot guarantee they will be ready for their first lesson. However, their rentals will be pre-set with the rest of
their group for the remaining scheduled Program Days.

If my children take lessons before the program starts and are no longer first-timers (or beginners), how do I change
their lesson level?

We love your commitment! Please inform your coordinator of any changes to your child’s lesson levels at least
one week prior to the first program day. We will do our best to accommodate any changes to their ability, but
we cannot guarantee changes will be made for their first Program Day.

What if my child does not want to take the lesson?
Gunstock offers lessons for every ability level and highly recommends (but does not require) that every student
participate. However, many schools and organizations do require participation in lessons, and you must follow
the policy of your school or organization. The cost of the program does not change if the student does not
participate in the lesson.

What if my child is ill and cannot participate for a given week during the program? Will they be entitled to a refund?
We do not issue refunds or schedule make-up lessons for short term illnesses such as the flu, covid, a cold, or for
scheduling conflicts that may arise outside of the program.

What if my child has an injury or illness and cannot continue to participate in the program?
If your child cannot complete the remainder of the program due to injury or health issues (withdrawing
completely), Gunstock will gladly issue a pro-rated Credit onto a Gunstock gift card or Mountain Money. You
must provide a doctor’s note stating the date of the injury or illness and submit a refund request via email to
(outreach@gunstock.com or services@gunstock.com ). Please submit these documents within 10 days of the
injury or illness. No credit will be issued after 3/30/26.

What if I forget to submit a refund request for my child? Can I do so once the program ends?
All requests must be submitted within 10 days of the date of the injury or illness. No refunds/credit will be
issued outside of these time frames.

What if my child feels that the lesson group they are in is not appropriate for their level and ability?
Please go over the Ski & Ride Ability Chart carefully with your child to select the appropriate lesson level before
the program begins. Any concerns relating to the lesson level should be brought to your group Coordinator.
Please also understand that lessons are designed to build the skills of the group, and as such, lessons may be
conducted on easier terrain than your child typically skis or rides. Gunstock’s instructors, in conjunction with the
Program Coordinator, will make the final decision as to the appropriate lesson level for each student.

My child’s instructor said my child should move up or down a level for the next class, but my child wants to stay with
his or her current group because that’s where his or her friends are. What do I do?

You can begin by reassuring your child that they will have free ski/ride time to be with his or her friends.
You can direct your concerns about your child’s lessons to your Program Coordinator.
Please keep in mind that Gunstock’s instructors are working to improve the skills of all the students in a group –
a student who is significantly less advanced hinders learning for the rest of the group, and a student who is
significantly more advanced will not get as much benefit out of that lesson time.
We do our best to group students with similar ability levels, but not all groups will be perfectly matched every
time.

What if my child wants to switch from skiing to snowboarding or vice versa each week?
While in the Outreach Program, your child may switch discipline only one time, within two days of the first
Program Day. No exceptions. We cannot accommodate switches after the first week because it becomes
difficult to fit students into existing lesson groups. Students who have been progressing in their lessons are at a
different place than a student joining the group for the first time. This is especially true for our 1st Timer and
beginner lesson groups, as those groups tend to make the most progress from week to week.
Students will not be permitted to switch back to their original discipline within the parameters of the Outreach
Program.

What happens during inclement weather?
At Gunstock, we love winter weather! However, your group’s coordinator may determine that it is best to
cancel on a particular day. We advise coordinators to weigh this decision carefully as programs have only one
potential make-up day built into the schedule. If the group cancels, no program lessons will be held that day.
If I have any other questions about the program, who should I contact?
Please direct all questions, concerns, and comments to your local Outreach Program Coordinator.
